In the rearview mirror

A cars’ avalanche has completely transformed the world’s landscape in the twentieth century. Cars have contributed to the change in lifestyle, a different perception of distance and speed. Possessing an own car has become a means of emancipation and a symbol of freedom. The machine has clearly influenced the way we build - urbanism and architecture. They enabled to move out of the city and led to creation of new types of functionality, construction of millions of kilometers of roads and highways and related infrastructure. Cars have become an important part of significant historical events as well as entered for good the pop culture. This exhibition along with the accompanying publication is an attempt to capture the relation between architecture and automotive industries - presenting the most extreme, pioneering and visionary concepts related to the car’s increasing role.
