"Wrocław Masters of Architecture" , vol. 7 - Julian Łowiński
Last year was unique. Not only did our regular events have a special form, but we also carried out a number of projects especially for the architectural programme of European Capital of Culture 2016. It was made even more unique by the change in the formula of the Honorary Award of the Wrocław Branch of the Association of Polish Architects.
The award committee concluded that it is necessary to examine the oeuvre of not only those architects who are professionally active, but especially those who left their lasting mark on the structure or cityscape of Wrocław, who endowed the city with a new dimension whose recognisability exceeds the municipality. The decision of the Executive Board of SARP Wrocław to change the form of publications was another breakthrough.
Launched a year ago, the new publishing series Wrocław Masters of Architecture replaced the previous form of including the accomplishments of the laureates in the catalogue of the Lower Silesian Festival of Architecture. Of course, publishing the books in the WMA series does not mean that all references to the award will be eliminated from the festival catalogue, which is a record of all actions and events held during the DoFA. After all, presenting the award and the achievements of the laureate is the culmination of the festival.
